What’s a good content management system that includes e-commerce apps that can manage subsciption content?
Basically, we’re creating a system to manage subscription content. So we need a WYSYWIG system (similar to WordPress or Moveable Type) that will let an editor / writer make contributions and manage four/five categories of content. The solutions should also have the added feature of allowing people to purchase subsciptions and manage their own accounts. In terms of cost and budget, we’re open to spend a little bit of money but obivously cheaper is better.

VirtueMart is an Open Source E-Commerce solution to be used together with a Content Management System (CMS) called Joomla! Joomla and VirtueMart are written in PHP and made for easy use in a PHP / MySQL environment.
I don’t have a direct answer for you because I haven’t really ever needed exactly what you are talking about. Here are a couple of things to checkout: Drupal, and maybe stores.yahoo.com might be able to do what you want.
I think there is probably an open source product that would be suitable. Though I’m not that familiar with CMS.
