What would be the impact on E-commerce if the EU and United States could not agree on standards for ensuring data privacy of E-commerce data flows? How might this affect the economies of the countries involved?

    I don’t think it would have any long term effect. Both sides would adjust their methodology as best they could to compensate for the other side’s shortcomings. Remember, e-commerce didn’t really begin until about 10 years ago, after Microsoft came out with Windows 98. Some would argue that e-commerce actually started when Windows 2000 or NT came on the scene (much more stable work platform.) So one could argue that countries have been engaged in non-e-commerce activities a heck of a lot longer….. and managed to work things out.
