I’m trying to create a website. The purpose of it is to be able to sell anywhere from 1 to 5 products. I’ve done some research on html and have somewhat picked it up, but what I want the site to be may require me to have an even greater understanding of html (which I don’t mind, but don’t have the time). Anyways, what I really need is some advice/suggestions on how to go about with the creation of the website. First of all, since it’s an e-commerce site, would I be able to create the site on notepad or do I need some sort of software like Dreamweaver? In addition, since I’m going to want to take down customer information, would working on notepad allow me to? Second, I’m looking to use PayPal as my primary source for transactions, so would I still need to go about selecting a shopping cart, and if so, what kind would be good? Since I’m going to be selling products, are there other details that I have overlooked (i.e. security for personal information, etc.)? If there are any other steps that I may need to take, those would be helpful as well. Thank you in advance.

Hello, Im gonna open up an online store and I have a merchant account with my bank and my store up and running, Im also using paypal, but I need to add a feature to accept different amounts like an auction kinda thing, but I dont know where to do this, the user will have to put the amount he/she decides, so how do I go about doing this?

I have decided to program the site myself.
I bought a domain from godaddy.com
I bought dreamweaver.
I decided to use paypal as my shopping cart.

My Problem
Is there any good e-books or blogs or books about programming an e-commerce site?
I’m a college student in 30,000 dollars debt, so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Looking to get nice and free e-commerce design templates using CSS and/or HTML. (something easy to edit, since I do not know PHP, ASP, or any database stuff.) Plus, if you might know, whats the best way to have the customer purchase from the site using credit cards? can I outsource it using PayPal or something with minimal costs? This site isn’t going to be huge by any means… only about 20-30 products. Thank you in advance for any help!

I need to know how to integrate shopping cart into my website, how to handle payment processing using VISA , PayPal ,… Can anyone guide me to a free tutorial / book to read about that?

I feel like my webdesigner is pressuring me to use securepay for receiving transactions to my website. Why should I trust him? Is there something else thats better than securepay (not paypal)

I am starting a large e-commerce website, and, besides for credit cards, I want to allow users to pay by e-checks and bank transfers. How do companies like paypal and gambling websites do this? Even a website with relevant information will be a big help.

I’m working on a store site and I have a host already that provides PHP compatibility along with MySQL database compatibility, and plenty of space. I don’t have much PHP experience above creating a basic on page contact form sender script with custom fields. What must I have or know in order for me to get my dynamic catalog working for all my products, and how would I encompass a shopping cart? I’m thinking of just going with paypal for now.
