I would like to know the kind of E-commerce( ON-LINE selling,ON-LINE marketing,ON-LINE teaching) they are using and the kind of networking ( if it is LAN,MAN, or both,or WAN) and the particular devices to help with their transaction and to manage data

I recently took a course on Networking and I’m wondering I thoroughly understand most of what happens between the ISP and my Computer. What I don’t understand is what the ISP does on the other end. That is to say, what, specifically, does the ISP do that grants you access to the interent. Moreover, if one had the financial means, how would one go about starting an ISP?

I have two systems in networking by LAN, one system is Windows 98 and other is Windows XP. Now, I have connected Broadband internet connection with system of windows XP through USB. The system of Windows XP is connected with internet but I am not able to surf internet at system with Windows 98. Kindly instruct as to how the internet connection can be achieved at both the systems. I am layman in this field. Kindly let me have complete manual in this regard.

I’ve heard that a hardware router acts as a firewall, but I’m not sure how if it seemingly is letting all web traffic in and out. Would appreciate an answer from someone with networking know-how. Thanks.
Just to clarify, I meant protection from viral threats/trojan horses/malware, not from people hacking into the wireless signal.
