I have an idea for an e-commerce site, I don’t yet know how great the demand will be. I have good experience in ASP + SQL Server 2000, but wouldn’t mind trying out a newer, possibly more efficient scripting language such as PHP or Ruby. What would you recommend and for what reasons?

I’m planning to create an e-commerce site using x-cart and I’m wondering if there are any requirements for how it is hosted…

Will I need a dedicated server? Or will a shared server be just as good? I know I’ll need an SSL certificate but again – shared or dedicated? Any info you can give me would be great.

I want to receive RFPs from website deveopers for a potential retail e-commerce site that I want created.

I am new to the world of e-commerce and was able to find a great deal of information online relating to starting an e-commerce site. However, I have not been able to find a good website that explains the essentials of integrating an e-commerce site with a bricks and mortar operation. Does anyone know of a site I could visit that would explain this to me?

Also, from what I have gathered thus far, I need to check there is integration between the shopping cart, POS software, merchant account, gateway, merchant processor, host, SSL certificate, virtual terminal and PCI compliance companies. I have an understanding of the role each of these play, but am confused about integration in general. Which of these components to my e-commerce/bricks and mortar operation would I need to check for integration? Are there any components I am not mentioning?

Specifically, I already did all the graphics and buttons for my e-commerce site, I just need someone to show me how to skin it and set up all the shopping cart features, how to link keywords, set up PayPal, etc. I AM WILLING TO PAY TOO!! My web host is Bluehost, and I already have installed CubeCart,
one of their shopping cart templates that is skinnable.

This will be a very cool stock illustration site featuring edgy cartoons available for download, similar to www.istock.com.

I’m currently a student studying a IT course I am good at making html and php personal sites however I have been asked to create an e-commerce site, I can create the standard look of the site however how would I go about creating buyable items payable by multiple payments methods (not only paypal) with basket feature including user accounts?

Its my first time building a mid-level E-commerce site. I don’t know what scripting languages I would need to know in order to build it.

Need Experienced Website Coder/Designer to build e-commerce site that sells downloadable software. Programmer should have experience with this type of project. When customer makes a purchase they should get a download link and license key w/instructions on demand (immediate fulfillment).
