I have a new website. When I try a search on major search engines my sites does show up in the returned results. I am trying to increase the amount of traffic the site receives. Do I need to register with the search engines, or is there something else I need to do? Any Ideas?

I already rank #1 for some of my keywords and that still doesn’t bring in the amount of traffic I need. I write articles, I blog and still get less than 100 unique visitors a day. I do not spam or use any "black hat" SEO techniques, and yet I can’t seem to generate the traffic. Can anyone tell me what has really worked for them? I mean REALLY worked, don’t give me any link exchange or click exchange junk. I am looking for true content related ideas that my visitors will appreciate and find useful.
