Credit card transactions are often processed by thirdparty gateways. Generally you integrate their processing software into your website and you are ready to go. Depending on the gateway you will pay an setup fee and a percentage of the selled item, sometimes you also pay a subscription fee.
Many gateways require you to live in USA, but there are local gateway companies in many countries too. Furthermore you need to be at least 18 years old. Further requirements differ per payment gateway.
